The Great Night of Rumi is a place to hear inspired presentations of Rumi’s poetry. His poems express the entire range of human experience; the deepest longings of the human heart, grief, confusion, wild laughter, a deep connection with the Divine, and more. On this podcast, we deepen our appreciation of Rumi’s genius by exploring how he is similar to and different from other soul poets such as WB Yeats, William Stafford, and Bob Dylan. The Great Night of Rumi also explores the historical context in which Rumi lived and wrote. Rumi says, “Don’t come to us without bringing music” so we have included a wide variety of music as well.
Episode 1 features lively presentations of Rumi’s poetry by Doug von Koss, Chetana Karel, and many others, as well as Kirsten Falke singing several songs from the CD The Breeze at Dawn: Poems of Rumi in Song.
